Payroll data never has to touch a server. If instead you generate slips from one data sheet, do the fill first with your template or macro, then batch the output files. Why payroll is a hard case for the usual tools

Payslips carry names, pay figures, and often tax and bank details, so uploading them to an online converter is a non-starter for many teams. They are also a recurring run: the same shape, every pay period, one file per employee. Doing that through Excel’s Save as PDF one file at a time is where the afternoon goes, and Excel’s as-is export can split a row or clip a column with nobody checking before the slips go out.

The workflow, honestly split

Step 1 - generate the slips (not our part). However you produce individual payslips today stays the same: a per-employee template, a VBA loop that fills and saves one file per person, or a payroll add-in. CrazySmartPDF does not create the per-employee copies from a single data sheet, and it is more honest to say so than to pretend otherwise.

Step 2 - render the folder (our part). Point CrazySmartPDF’s desktop app at the folder of generated payslips. It renders every workbook in one pass, and for each one it:

• keeps every row whole so a pay line never splits across a page break;
• keeps a wide slip readable, resizing to a readable floor or slicing rather than crushing;
• writes a per-file health report that flags any page that came out blank or clipped (it flags the page for review; it does not rewrite your file);
• runs entirely on your machine on the native Windows apps, with nothing uploaded and originals left untouched.

What it needs, and what it does not do

• Needs: Windows with Microsoft Excel 2016+ for the native apps.
• Does not do: turn one data sheet into many per-employee slips (that is the generate step), and does not run offline as a web tool (the free web tool uploads then deletes; for payroll, use the native apps).

Once the slips are generated, the recurring render stops being an afternoon of one-file exports. The folder goes in, laid-out PDFs come out, and the health report tells you if any slip came out wrong before an employee sees it, all without the confidential data leaving your PC.
